Thanks Rob, that should arrive in a day or so.

Meanwhile, no more cards today and I will be travelling for the next four days and might not be back on here until Tuesday which will also be the next day I get to the post box.

Vasi, if you are reading this, I hope to have your F&P in the mail on about Wednesday!

Cheers.

Hi

Just sent my cards and moo la and apparently it will take four days to get there from Brisbane. Thats a bloody outrage it is! I thought with the advent of the internet there would've been a technology that speeds up the process of sending letters overseas
( I know we should make a machine that opens all the mail before it is sent and converts the contents to bits and bytes and sends it via the internet to the destination (country) it then reconverts the the bits and bytes to a actual envelope with contents which can then be sent via normal post to its destination)
We should call it TDMR (Trans Dimensional Mail Replicator).

In all seriousness I hope it reaches you before you send the package to Vasi.

Cheers

Christian

Thanks Christian.

I will be checking the mail box today and reporting on here this evening.

Apart from Christian are there any others in the pipeline?

We are looking good to cover the postage and I dont want to leave it too long to lick the stamps and send it to Vasi but I will hold off a day or if there are others coming so that your cards get included for Vasi.

Postman delivered a few more this morning!

Thanks to :

Gizmo
Gonzo
Rob
Rotohed

Everyone has been very generous and one or two have been extremely so! (I wont post the individual amounts unless there is a clamour for that information)

I must say I am very impressed at the support you are giving me in doing this and knowing there are a couple more in the pipeline I will hold the packing for a day or so. Some great cards among them too.

OK, I think they are all in!

Thanks to: (in no particular order)

Amun-Ra (arrived today)
Rob
Gonzo
Gizmo
Rotohed
Herb
Allan
Trev
Permaclutter
Highlander
Gill

GRAND TOTAL OF $220!

Thanks for everyone's generousity and I am sure there is enough there for two full kits, especially when I add in my share!

Vasi, are you reading this? I have two stators, two rotors, two shafts and one set of bearings in a holder. I am sure you can find bearings OK in your country as they seem to be quite standard. They will be posted some time this week but will take a while to reach you as they will probably be coming by ship and it is a long way from the bottom of the world to the top!

I'm still amazed it got there

Now take your time, no rush. When I get something unique, like those F&P's, I use them in a way that is not damaging, so I can use them again for another project in the future. So when you build your first windmill, remember to take care of the coils so you can make changes and use the stator again for another windmill at a later date.
Be careful when you separate the stator and hub, get someone to give you a hand, they are difficult to get apart and you can pinch a finger in there.

Another tip, store the magnet hub flat side down, never sitting on its side. I had a hub that was sitting on its side on a shelf for a couple of months. It was warped after that, out of round, and would scuff the stator when put together.

Vasi,
I have noticed that the gentleman from the backshed have provided all the bits an peices required to get you up and running with your next project.
I was unable to take part due to personal and finantial reasons but I hope all goes well. If you want to remove the plastic from the baring hub you can simply hang it up with a piece of wire and light it with fire and all the plastic will burn and melt off the aluminium as there is not enough heat generated to do any damage. The bare aluminium baring housing may be much easier to mount and work with without the plastic. Hope that is some help.

This is how I remove the stator from rotor.

1: Place the end of a shaft through the stator and partly into the rotor hub.

2: Wrap a towel or big cloth around hands.

3: Hold the end of the shaft on a bench top, protect the bench with a piece of wood. The shaft is verticle and the rotor with stator is at the top.

4: Bang end of shaft against the wood, a couple of gentle blows first then increase force until the stator falls out of the rotor and lands on your hands.

Note, just hard enough as you do not want to damage the rotor hub. Do not push the shaft right into the hub so always leaving room to absorb excess force.

Other method, not easy but quicker.

1. Have some padding on the floor.

2. Bend over. Hold rotor with stator side downwards. Hold rotor with finger tips gripping bottom edge.

3. Move rotor with stator quickly towards floor, suddenly stop when about 750mm from floor.

4. If you are strong the stator will drop out onto the floor!

Hope this is useful information!

Well, my father can't believe this: "I see it but I still can't believe it! They are special kind of people. I can't believe it! They give it this to you." But not only my father ... my brothers, cousins ...

Some of them said "We are glad for you but more when this box will arrive ...".

No one believed this box can arrive to me, not because of you. Also we are all very impressed by you guys. This site and it's forums was my choice because I liked the layout of site, projects, and the quality of the forums and you guys.

Hi John, I have a question:

When you packed the motors you put this rotor

with 100 type stator and this rotor

with 80 type stator. You had a reason doing this? This is the way? I mean, this is how I must do it?

P.S. For all, the pictures are from this page. Not the original pieces.Edited by vasi 2007-07-17

Hi Vasi

I did nothing special in putting the pieces together. Those were two rotors and two stators I had so I just put them together to go in the box.

One rotor may be better than the other but I do not know.

Thanks for the offer Alan but everyone has been so generous that there is really no need as the total cost of the postage has been practically covered. Maybe someone will do something like that again some time.

Cheers
John
