SEELEY MOUNTING SOLUTION
This method is very accurate, strong, and cheap and achieved with no lathe work.
Remove the two green covers and then the contents. Then the mushroom held in by its three screws. With a sharp chisel break away the keyway and other plastic so that the P.V.C. pipe can be gently tapped in .The length of this pipe is determined by measuring the tight size between bearing and deducting 1mm.
After you cut the long pipe with a Makita electric saw use an angle grinder to get the slot to 7mm. On assembly use a couple of pipe clamps ahead of the bearings.
The Hume’s 40 mm UPVC is a common plumbing pipe. The main pipe is 41mm OD and is a little hard to find. Although I found a big stillage of it at Hills Industries Salvage at $6.50 each.
Picture 1 Shows the 7mm cut in the 41mm pipe with two extra bearing for blade support. Once the innards are removed the PVC pipe fits tight.
Picture 2 Shows the Seeley mounted. It is quiet heavy.
Picture 3 Shows a mount assembly which is to be considerably reinforced.
Picture 4 Shows the front of a blade mount which will have a Seeley bearing mounted on a steel plate and not aluminum as shown. Note the alignment of the leading edge of the blades.
Picture 5 Shows the back of the blade mount which will have Seeley bearing under a steel backing plate. I have found a pipe with a perfect fit to the OD of these bearings.
