To all.

Car battery is suitable for daily activities? how much can resist? Using it in 10.5 - 14.4 V range.

The loads are:
- LED lights
- iron solder
- ups and PC
- a small charger for camera batteries

Well, I found this on forums, searching for "car battery":

...try a car battery, its a good way to keep fit while watching tv or do some power runs when ads come on ...

...It seems big enough but if I had a car battery on hand I would use it.

hi vasi you might want to try deep cycle batteries and more than one to avoid discharging the batts too much but big car batteries will do
matt down south

Hi,
My controller prevent discharging car battery under 10.5v (turning off the load (consumer)) - special designed for protecting car battery on charging/discharging . Other solutions are very expensive for me or must wait for long time until I will be able to buy one or two 6v 380Amps. batt. used in trains (inside) for lighting .
A quick solution is to buy a car battery, 12V/300Ah .

I mean, anyone used car battery for years? It can resist more than one year?

Vasi I have batteries 12v 200ah agm they weigh about 67kg each and will last for years but cost me $600.00 au each they are not car batteries but are meant for high discharge and are used for power on a building site in place of a generator they are made by ever exeed
but have a 12 year lifecycle. A car battery wil not take a high discharge more than a few times before it dies save up for the best you can get long term it will pay off.Mick
ps 10.5v is total discharge not good for any batery
Every day the sun shines
& gravity sucks= free energy.

Vasi, How much usable wind would you be able to capture in your area of your country. How long through the day and how many months in the year do it blow for and at what speed ?

Hi guys, all I can tell from a wind map is 5000 hours/year at more than 4m/s wind speed. I don't know how this is distributed in time. But we have more wind on winter.

I can setup the controller to not discharge the battery under 11V.

My main objective will be the protection of battery when no winds blow.Edited by vasi 2007-07-20

Vasi ... Discharging a car battery to 11 Volts means it will probably only take this treatment for ten or twelve times (if you are lucky!!) before it dies forever. As others have said, get deep cycle batteries such as those used in electric forklifts or golf buggies. "Trojan" brand is recognised as a good one. You can sometimes get these cheap for their scrap-metal value if you know who to ask whenthey reach the end of their ' úseful life' . Then you can refurbish them fairly easily and cheaply as I have written elsewhere in this forum.
Avoid strong drink. It makes you shoot at tax collectors ...and miss.

Thank you guys, you convinced me not to make a mistake.
Is impossible to work only in 13-14.4V area.
