I stumbled across these the other day. I can't find any info by google. Someone out there may find something to do with them. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Eclipse-aviation-Generator_W0QQitemZ2 00156369570QQihZ010QQcategoryZ102702QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1Q QcmdZViewItem Link doesn't seem to work. Usually aircraft and vehicle generators/alternators are designed to be minimum size and weight, and operate at very high rotational speeds, efficiency is never a priority. These machines are built to contain the very minimum of copper and iron. As a result they usually always require comparatively high mechanical drive power for the rated electrical output. High drive power is never a problem with an aircraft engine! While an aircraft generator COULD be used, it might not always be the best solution. Something that operates at lower speed and with higher efficiency may be more desirable. Cheers, Tony. |
