Hi Guys,
Well I'm new here, great site, and nice to see a lot of Australians here.
Great info on windmills here, as I was looking to expand my
solar installation:
http://www.freewebs.com/defxev/Inverter.htm
with a possible turbine since I've heard of it done for long
term camping near the beach.

It seems it might pay to stick with solar for this purpose though,
and spend the money on more PV panels, or am I mistaken?
I wouldn't call it a "mobile" installation once it has a
turbine with 2 metre rotor!
Art.

Hi Art

Welcome to the site.

For camping I dont think you could beat solar. A windmill just needs too much "stuff" to get it up and going, like the tower for a start.

But, if you ever get a caravan or camper van, then thats a different story. You could rig up a mast on the side/top of a van. It would have to fold down when traveling of course, so you could rig some some way to fold down/up the tower, attach a few guy wires to make it secure.

Thanks,
Maybe it just pays off for the person I heard about because
he camps on the beach, and there would be times of wind daily.

Battery box is from Supercheap Auto, they come fitted with
terminals and basic LED bargraph voltmeter, or fitted with
nothing. They are made to fit a 13 plate 4x4 battery.
