I have been slowly collecting all the bits for an FP wind generator. I am at the stage where I am looking to get a set of blades. At this stage I am not going to attempt to buils a set. Can anybody comment on the 6 blade set being sold by EcoInnovation. I am located on top of a hill and get some quite strong wind. I have recorded 112KM/H, highest to date Cheers CB365 |

hi cb365, i havenot used the icoinnovation blades myself, but all posts on the net are positive, i have known about eccoinnovations for about 4 yrs and built my first wind charger using eccoinnovations web site this site as guides with great success. i read alot on blade designs and decided to build my own from timber, i used 3 blades for wind speed was quite variable in my area, i believe it goes the more props the less speed but greater torque is achieved. eccoinnovations have been working with wind and water turbines for 20 odd yrs and do know there stuff, i dont think you would go wrong with there blades good luck martin free power for all McAlinden WA |

Hi CB365 I did try a set of the blades from EcoInovation a few years ago. I used them on a F&P and later on a big old server motor. ![]() I'm afraid they didn't work very well for me, lacked any real power. If I open circuited the windmill, the blades would take off and it was spinning so fast it was a blur ( a noisy blur I might add ), but as soon as I applied the load the turbine slowed down to almost nothing. But that said, I dont have a lot of wind. So maybe they would have worked fine in strong winds, but for me they just hang on the wall of my shed. Thanks for the feed back. Looks like I may need to rethink the 6 blade option. Cheers Chris |

Gordon, Here is the link to the blades. They are made from injection-moulded plastic. 750mm long (1.5meter diameter) http://www.ecoinnovation.co.nz/prod_cat.php?num=54 Cheers Chris |

eccoinnovations also have pull-truded fiberglass blade sets (3 Blades) for $125. They go quite well for the price. Available in 2.15m and 2.55m Dia. http://www.ecoinnovation.co.nz/prod_cat.php?num=54 The back shed has a page on modifying them to make them quite. I haven't tried this mod myself yet but it looks quite promising. http://www.thebackshed.com/windmill/articles/ChineseBlades2. asp |

Hi Gizmo, can you confirm the blades you have. Looking at the picture you posted, your blades are not 750mm long. I think the blades cb365 talks about are AirEx type. cheers, Gordon. become more energy aware |
