I recently went to my God childrens year 7 formal breakup. The school they attend has recently built a huge hall capable of holding the entire 1000+ students.

I was amazed when I walked into this hall to see this huge ceiling fan. It was actually frightening to have this thing spinning above us - but I settled after a while.

Each blade is approx. 8-9ft and it spins at around 10-12 rpm - not fast but your certainly aware that it's there.

The blades looked like they were made of alloy. They also appeared to be sagging(flexing) a bit, so I would hope they are injected with foam or something.
