Hiya Guy's, Well after some work I managed to repair the tower and get the genny backup and flying again. The damaged blade I just poured some thinned wood glue in the cracks and let it soak in, after 3 coats I reckon all the splits were filled so hopefully it will stay together. I changed the stator to a 100s in delta and I basically remade the tail and just put a stop on each end rather than the pipe cutout shown on the main site. I threw some pic's up in my irc gallery showing the tower repair, I machined down some 1/2" bolts 200mm long so they were a neat slide fit in the tube then drilled a hole in each section 60mm back and plug welded the hole before I welded the join. Well after this disaster I only lost about 1/2 a metre on tower height. NOW HERE'S A TIP FOR EVERYONE when lowering a tower make sure the side guy wire aren't too tight or you'll endup doing what I did and it aint fun fixing. Cheers Bryan |

G'day Guy's, Well it's been blowing a gale here all week and I wondered this morning as I'm off crook from work why the wind genny was making a horrible noise and my batteries weren't fully charged. Anyway I lowered the tower and found the blade mount had a little side slop so off I went to get my breaker bar and socket, then wondered why it wouldn't tighten? I lowered the blades so I could see in the hole only to find the nut had come undone and was missing ![]() Cheers Bryan ![]() |
