Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.
Hello everyone,

G'day wandyhee,
Welcome to the forum. I don't think we've had anyone from Malaysia on the forum before. A lot has been covered in the forum over the years so there's a lot of reading but hopefully it will provide enough insight to design and build your own wind generator. Remember if you struggle to understand anything on the site or in the forum there'll be somebody to give you an answer if you ask.
Nice bow. Was the shot successful? Edited by Gill 2008-05-28was working fine... til the smoke got out.
Cheers Gill _Cairns, FNQ
suprised to hear that i'm the first Malaysian to register here. For now I dont have any part/material to start with, so hopefully by reading some idea from this web/forum will built up my spirits to drive me to right direction , as I always thought about alternative energy resources.. even up to now, as I have a piece of land which electric supply cannot reach. If I manage to find some alternative energy resources, I will be able to think about to built a house there
Thas was on 3D course you see in my avatar, so far I haven't have a chance take down any big animals... Hope there will be luck on my next hunt :)
Ok, I have my first question about windmill. Is it facing only 1 direction (fixed)? or it will chance/rotate the direction according to where's the wind came from?
sound stupid but to be honest, I never saw any windmill with my bare eyes except from the pictures

Hi Wandyhee, there are people here who build both horizontal and vertical axis wind turbines. The horizontal axis ones do (usually) turn to meet the wind and many have a furling feature where they will turn away from the wind if the wind is too stong.
Vertical axis ones are not so popular and of course do not need to change their direction.
The choice is influenced by the sort of environment where the wind machine will be erected.
