Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I have found steel cables and synthetic cables. The latter is described as being lighter, stronger and safer (no recoil if broken) than steel cable. Has anyone tried these or have any thoughts on using systhetic rope instead of steel cables?

Yes I've read all the wonderfull properties of the synthetic cables when I was playing with antennas. If you have shares in an armoured car business and can afford to deliver the $$$$$$$$s then great. But why do you feel a windmill needs non conducting/parasitic resonant guy wires???? was working fine... til the smoke got out.

I see no point with synthetic guying cables either. I can see problems down the track with UV exposure etc. You would have to use spectra, or kevlar with nylon sheath. I see other problems with terminations. Corrosion resistance would be a plus if the tower was in an ocean spray zone. .. Gordon.become more energy aware
