hi just joine the forum. think its a great site. just been researching diy windmillls and am looking for a motor to start a project. i see that the cost of getting one sent from aus is prohibitive and also that lg motors are similar. can anyone tell me if this one http://www.espares.co.uk/part/washing-machines/lg/wm14220fd/ p/1085/81/0/510308/173848/drive-motor-assembly.html
would suit?? do i need just this part or all the motor housing, bearings etc
I had a look at the part you described and it all looks very expensive
The Fisher and Paykel washer have been around here for quite a few years now and are easily picked up at the tip
for 15 dollars, but being in Ireland would be a bit difficult, You could always try to pick one up on e-bay and have it shipped over free information for all

Wow! £97.89 and that appears to be just for the stator.
I've never even seen one of these though I'm assuming them to be very much like the F&P. In addition to the stator you will need the rotor, shaft, and securing nut(rotor to shaft) as the very basic minimum.
Bearings and their housing (possibly incorporated in the tub) would be of use if salvaging from old washer.
Great potential, yet as hoodlem says, "very expensive".
was working fine... til the smoke got out.

ok after further research ( i rang f and p's customer service line for ireland and they say they can supply me with spare parts for any washing machine even though they were never sold here. so if anyone can give me the model numbers of the machines with the most suitable motors???, so i can get a quote. Although the lg one seems expensive im sure i could find a scrapped one if i keep lookin, and the postage rates from aus to here are so steep that it would work out almost the same to buy new spare parts here as to ship a second hand one.
