G'day prophetski,
I never look at the model numbers. Like a madman, I rip the old washers apart using a system I reckon everyone who has collected several soon develops.
I wouldn't say any model was 'best' as such rather, each has it's own characteristic that may be better suited to certain application. I don't know the models that use the 60series or 100series. From the lack of response it seems that no one else does either. You see you don't get a choice of model numbers at the rubbish tip.
I think you'll find all the Smartdrives in these models are the 80series which are the most common.
GW703 U or
MW511 AU or
MW058 U
That's the best I can do. Hope it helps. was working fine... til the smoke got out.

It may be an idea to ask for diagrams before ordering.
The bearing case for the "motor" is part of the wash tub so ordering a motor.... What do you get? |

Hey guys,
Not sure if this needs a new post or not, but I was at the tip the other day, doing a bit of scrounging, (its what I do best), and I came across a F and P WM. I turned it over, and pulled off the motor hub without anyone knowing and it was a 14 magnet hub.
My question is, how do I know from the outside- as in what models- carry the seven phase hub, and 36 pole motor ?
I am trying to be more selective when scrounging ???
Thanks in advance...

Hey Robbo They are mostly 80S with a few being 100S and the newer ones with the fancy keyboards being 60S. The one that just about everyone uses is 80S and those who have tried will tell you they are just about impossible to put thicker wire on. When scrounging I always have room in my car and take the whole machine?s. Some of them I recondition and sell as SH washing machines. When you get the machine home you will probably be able to see why it went to the tip. Besides the coil and magnetic assembly you need the wiring ,washers and bolts. Then using a sharp handsaw cut the plastic bearing assembly out with leaving about 200mm around it. This you later reduce to fit inside a 90 mm square pipe. When visiting the tip again dump the remains and get more. It is also unlikely that you will get all the parts you need in good condition at your first encounter

robbo,
When you see the new rotor you will notice more holes in it than the old ones. When you come across these at the tip let us know. I havn't heard of anyone finding a new one there yet. was working fine... til the smoke got out.
