Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Would someone please build one of these?
I filed a provisional patent but I am tapped out financially.

This one is like the Savonius style for high torque at low speeds.

The idea for this one is to start up using the Savonius and automatically switch to the Darrieus style to take advantage of higher wind speeds.

Here are some options worthy of noting:

Bending / rounding the top and bottom 1/4 portions of the blades should increase output.
Extending the blades past the hinge point (changing the pivot points) may improve performance
Changing blade height to width ratios - changing diameter to height ratio
Different styles may be ideal for different locations - telephone poles, on roofs, between buildings, wind farms etc...

To dang many options for me to have a clue!
Math is my weak suit!
I just draw things that look like a good idea.

I would gladly share the ownership of the patent for some successful field testing. I will also work to get grants to support further research after a prototype prove my theories.

Hello Paul, could you make a cardboard model and video it similar to what www.flapturbine.com has done.Your weakness may be maths, mine is visualising how it works.Well done with the graphics.

I built one 20 years ago out of Tinker Toys without the blade links when my kids were kids. It didn't spin smoothly because of over swing. The links are the trick but I need to move up from Tinker Toys to an Erector Set.

Where do I get a an Erector Set? I give that a try.

Hi Paul
Don't spend your money on patents. If it works just sit back and enjoy it.

You have alot to overcome yet.Keep thinkin and have fun.

VAWTMAN,
It is hard to enjoy life without a little green. I cant't afford to build one big enough to power a light bulb.

Mark hit the nail on the head. Do a little now and then. Keep the project fun. Learn as you go. IMHO, you have a good start with your idea.
