Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

There's a nasty little 4 letter word that starts with a "W" that gets in my way a lot more than I like, but I'm making progress on my anemometer. Machining the arms is all that's left and I'm wondering how to mount the cups. The arms are 3/8" round Alu. I'll be slitting the end to mount a tab I'll leave uncut off of these coffee scoopers I found at Wal-Mart.

I could mount the cups straight out, in the same plane as the arms. Or I could stand the cups up at 90 degrees to the arms. Leaning towards straight up but thinking it probably won't make much difference either way at the same time!

Any opinions welcome tho ....

BTW, I'll only be using 3 of those cups. We had that 3 vs 4 cup discussion a short time back and I'd like to thank all who participated.

Here's a current progress pic.

I'd go with tradition... straight out. (and less arm in the wind.. no vertical component)

Traditional is good. We all stand on the shoulders of those that came before us going back to the 1st guy that played with fire.

So why do I keep trying to re-invent the wheel?

Thanx Oz.
