LG Front loader has a similar setup to the F&P and I thought it might be useful for wind power. I have not gone into the details yet as they are hard to find. What I do know is it is designed to spin the entire washing machine bowl and 10kg of clothes. So it must be strong, maybe too strong.
Good thing is it is made of steel mostly. I can get these Brand new as a set for $53 plus postage, but I don't have the time or skills to start from scratch. Anybody interested in trying them out.
Attached are 3 photo's hopefully.

Bearings will be a shelf item, shaft I will get a price, but I think with the centre plastic bit being bolt in, those with the tools and skills could make or modify their own shaft to suit. |

Location is Parkes NSW, but might be able to organise postage from the warehouse. The only condition is I would like to know any details of results, so I can copy.

Gee, $50 for stator and rotor --are you sure ??? F&P are much more...
The "bolt-in " rotor mount looks great ,machine fit a shaft ,easy.. The stator looks a bit light compared with the F&P (wire and laminations ) .. but the steel backed rotor might be great ..
could you get back to us on those prices, please?

Hiya Brett,
I'm over in SA and I'll like to order 4 of them and I'm sure a heap of other guy's will chime in with some orders. My missus has finally agreed to let me put a genny on the house array and these LG's look perfect for a multiple ganged up genny. The idea of the ability to use your own bearing/shaft setup is just too tempting.

Hi Guys
I am pretty certain those prices are correct. My Farther is in the washing machine fixing trade and those are the prices he has to pay. Bruce you are correct the F&P are more expensive, in general any F&P spare part is very expensive and the inverse is true for LG.
The reason I made the post about these motors is that I am interested in using these myself but do not have the time or skills to do the R&D on the electronics myself. I was hoping that somebody with the skills could take advantage of this cheep price I can get and do the work and provide myself and the forum feedback.
Email me "brett@lade.com" those that are interested so we can chat about any finer details.
Regards Brett |

Hello Brett,
I see that Ecoinnovation in NZ who were heavily promoting the F&P units are also onto the adaption parts for LG motors. They do have a manual on how to rewire them and other components to suit.I'm still struggling with the wiring concepts for the F&P's but have ordered a manual to help an electrically illiterate like myself.

I went to talk to the «washing machine» repair shop and the guy know this.
In Quebec, there is General Electric, Whirpool and LG who are using this type of motor.
G.E. use this kind of motor since only one year, so it is verry costly 236$ for stator and 130 for magnet ring.
I'll have the two other brand price tomorrow
I held the Whirpool stator, and it use 36 coils in a star configuration, and between each star point is a ugly 30ohms and naturaly 15ohms by 12 coils |

I've recived the price for ther whirpool stator and it cost me 176$ can + sales taxe. I bet the price got rised cause of our fluctuating currency .... it cost a bit more than copper itself I'll go back to ask for # of parts so everyone could check on its own.
I bet someone with good welding skills could make a stronger magnet rotor with some holes for cooling with long Neo magnets. |

Hi
I got hold of one LG/ Whirlpool motor today.
Very nice looking unit, should have a bid more output than the F&P?
Has anybody tested them for power output?
I would like to get some data on it.
I will use for 12 volt wind application, 2m blade.
cheers
Harald
Ps: I know I can buy it from eco inn.. |
