Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

whats the thinking on this?

windworker 5000u coupled with power-one 6kw grid connect inverter.

the wint turbine and monopoletower delivered to melbourne
is $6000USD + the inverter ~$4500USD.
this works out to around $12000 AUD.

couldn't possibly cost more than $5000 to dig a hole for the concrete foundation and have a sparkie run the cable.

cable is about $25/m installed (ie cable and conduit)
call it 50m so $1250

concrete need about a truckload ~$600 + reo call it $1500 including digging the hole

sparkie couldnt be more than a couple of grand including the fancy meter.

Output figures are very good and all reports of the windenergychina units is they are built like a brick dunny.

feedback and comments appreciated.
Site will be farm at Bairnsdale on top of a big hill with no surrounding structures (within 40m anyway)

have a www.winddatalogger logging windspeeds now, very promising data so far butit is the windy season. On the day I installed that we saw 22m/s which is 80km/hr or thereabouts.
Luck favours the well prepared

G'day Karl,
Sounds like a big investment in wind.
Good to see you're getting on site data for a realistic assessment. Well out of my personal comfort zone though. Would love to see a couple of work-in-progress shots if you are able. Something to droll over.

Good luck.
was working fine... til the smoke got out.

Karl please bear in mind that it takes an exceptional wind site to get anywhere near 15% of manufacturers quoted output.

Having said that you are monitoring your site, so collate that information before proceeding, and remember Chinese equipment does not fall into reliable in my books, I am old enough to remember Japaniese equipment when it first started folouding our market.
