Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me. |

Just finished my first blade 1 of 3. I tried holding the blade vertically to a moderate/strong wind, I couldn't feel the blade wanting to turn at all? If i made the blade corretly should I feel a lot of torque at the pivot point? UK DIY Renewables forum currently seeking members and help for the Admin. My Link

Probably not, so don't worry. There is virtually no torque until it is turning around the hub. Steven T. Fahey

Yes, don't worry about it. A 2.5meter mill with say TSR of 7, in a 20mph wind, will only give start torque of about 100 grams for a single blade. I doubt you would notice it against trying to hold it steady in the wind... not the kind of force that will rip your arms off. ............oztules Village idiot...or... just another hack out of his depth
