Have built first windmill using LG brushless Dc motor but am unable to multi reading at three wires from motor while being driven by wind.Should i get anything or is this motor no good?

Sounds like you are measuring DCVolts between the wires. Can you confirm this?

have also tried the dc setting on multi meter best is -.22v dc with moderate breeze.Not sure what minus 22v means

Hi Oil Farmer.

You have 3 wires. Try this, pick any two wires, and switch your multimeter to read AC volts. When the wind blows, take a few readings and see what you get. Let us know. Be carefull, the LG, oike the F&P, can make lethal voltages if your note carefull.

OK done multi red to red lg,black to yellow lg .52 v ac.
multi red to red lg black to blue lg .52 v ac then big gust up to .71 v ac Mick

Something weird there. I would expect 52 volts, not 0.52 volts.

Any chance of a picture of the motor.

Thanks Glenn, I can take a photo of the motor that requires the missus and computers so i'll give you label info for now and get back to you pics.model of machine is wf-t652a rated 240 v ac- 50hz. input 390w korean.its the same size as subaru alternator and bolts up the same with 1/2 inch shaft. hope that helps.I may be using the multi wrong Mick

I found a file but it was a empty zip file. Try using the image upload button

, it will ask you for the image and then upload/resize it for you.

It sounds like you may have a generic induction motor on your windmill. The F&P's or LG motors we commonly use are much bigger, about 270mm diameter or bigger. But the type of motor you have can be modified to work, it means a little lathe work and buying a few magnets.

This thread is supposed to be about LG brushless DC. This would not be the case given the data to date, and the labels given above are a bit of a givaway that you have an induction motor. There is no similarity really between a brushless DC motor/alternator and an induction motor. Sorry, except that there is a stationary part, and another part that rotates in both units. The LG should resemble pictures of F&P units that are in the articles section.

Sorry about lg brushless confusion but i did look up the lg website and thatwas all the info icould find.si and induction motor eh thanks for sorting that out.i'll try my local repairer for another motor.no lathe here only angle grinders and files.farmers are like that Mick
