I'm thinking I might use this rotor but the inner lip is 5/8 in. Should I leave
it at this or take it down to say 1/2 in. For magnet clearence? Any
suggestions welcomed

Where is the picture?

If you want to use a braking system go here and click on disc brake on the index

Sorry Soooth, What I meant was that i'm using the brake rotor to mount my magnets and the lip on the upper edge is 5/8 in. So if I use 1/2 in. mags. will that extra 1/8 in. of steel that rises above the mags. disturb the flux enough that I will have to remove it? And will it have a potential loss of performance due to air gap increase?

Without sounding I know it all, it is my experience during simulation that any protrusion outside the magnetic circuit has minimal effect on overall flux movement. If anything blocks the magnetic circuit, you have problems, here I would say you have very little problems with respect to flux circulation.
Any increase in air gap will decrease naturally performance in my opinion. Best to have as little air gap as is practically possible.
Is that rotor actual flat on the outside? ...looks kinda warped in the photo.
Cheers

Hi Ozzy, It's flat I'm not sure why the pic. looks like that. Then again like I said since I quit it might be warped like I am right at the moment
