Hi

wasted some time on the weekend and measured the output of an old Air Marine 403 on a lathe. As I mentioned on a previous post that there might have been one phase incorrect connected.
But it comes even better: Either way connected (star is default) this phase reduced the output dramaticly. I could figure out what I am doing wrong till I came to the conclusion this phase is out of syncronisation, maybe it's a Monday morning production version?

Anyway I connected the two phases in serie to a rectifier and the "out of syncro" phase to another rectifier, and connected the pluses and minuses to a battery bank.
I mesured as well the output of a single phase and as well all 3 phases separate connected to a rectifier - delta wiring.

A pity the lathe didn't go higher than 1200rpm.

here is the output:

cheers

Harald

Thank you for testing this.

I wonder if someone familiar with this type can tell if there's something wrong with your unit, or can say that 250W at 1200RPM is par for the course?

Thinking a little more about your wiring questions: are you sure it's a 3-phase alternator? I don't know myself, (and I didn't see the previous thread).

Some people I know get similar results. These windmills need a lot of wind.

It's definetly a 3 phase , wired in star originally, power output ~ 60% of what I measured in it's default wiring.

Rated power of 300 watt is originally reached at 1800rpm !!!

I would like to test how many amps it would produce at this speed in the " 2S-1P " configuration.
From the chart I would guess over 30Amps.
