New to forum, but just reading on vawt and noise, has anyone (probably) considered using high density poly etheylene as blade's? |

I make a lot of pumps out of HDPE; it machines nicely, but it's pretty heavy for use as a blade. I suppose it would be at risk for UV degradation also. A better choice for blade material might be to consider laying up the blades in composite carbon fiber. I've made sailplane fuses out of the stuff and it's pretty easy to work with plus it's bullet proof! Nothing difficult is ever easy! Good thing! Next time a random drive-by shooting comes around, I can feel assured my turbine blades will survive ![]() |
