Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

New to forum, but just reading on vawt and noise, has anyone (probably) considered using high density poly etheylene as blade's?

I make a lot of pumps out of HDPE; it machines nicely, but it's pretty heavy
for use as a blade. I suppose it would be at risk for UV degradation also.

A better choice for blade material might be to consider laying up the blades
in composite carbon fiber. I've made sailplane fuses out of the stuff and it's
pretty easy to work with plus it's bullet proof!

Good thing! Next time a random drive-by shooting comes around, I can feel assured my turbine blades will survive
