Just got a email from Dennis, he's found a spline that suits the F&P shaft.

"After looking at hundreds of cars and parts (many hours) BINGO. Early type Toyoto Corollas and Coronas have female tail shafts which match F and P perfectly. The axles are long males which also match. I go to a wrecker where you take the part of the car yourself and only bought the yoke sections after stripping from the universal joints. There are lots of them and they cost $5 each. They have an outside diameter of 32 mm and will cut up to 80mm long and this is the way to go"

That's amazing.

I've got a F&P in test frame on the bench, and have been wondering what is the best way to interface to the spline.

Handy wee note, you spending hours looking at it has saved me hours. Thanks.

Hi,
This is the part that comes out of the gearbox right?
Are they the same for both manual and automatics?
Cheers

hi everyone
Yes l have known about this for fews months ago and did taken the photo however fail to load to Gimzo's webs site and when l found out when l use the Toyoto Corollas motor for my 3ph genator and did cut gearbox bell housing in half and weld 3 flat 12mm plate to match and bolt it up bell housing direct to corolla motor and gearbox part was use to make felixable coupling on genator shaft and the flywheel and l relize that gearbox shaft nearly fit to F&P hubs and need a bit of lathe work to reduce the outside diameter so it will fit into the hubs same with tailshaft female york that fit nearly 80% to F&F spline so l am bit sorry for not telling everyone earlier

Hi,

What is the problem with the F&P spline then? The 25mm shaft can be used with standard flange bearings. I leave the old bearing in on the rotor side and use the strong flange bearing (available in four or two mounting hole variants) for the prop side.

Youse must think of something stronger to use a different spline.

I found a Corolla Clutch Plate that seemed to fit my F&P shaft. But it's 1 spline off. The F&P shaft counts 20 splines, the Corolla clutch plate counts 21 splines.

It does slide on nicely and holds so tight that it will never slip from any amount of torque, but there it is the slightest bit off from the 1 spline mismatch.

Will this 1 spline mismatch make too much of a difference?

BTW, I did locate another clutch Plate off an Audi (didn't get the exact model) that fit the shaft 100% perfectly, but the Allan bolts snapped my wrench.

My F&P is shaft is from a new 36 pole stator. (I don't know if there is a difference in shaft splines with the older style F&P).

I would imagine if I ordered a 7/8" 20 spline clutch plate it would fit? Would this be a safe bet?
