Just announced today - F&P are closing their washer (?) factory in Auckland NZ & moving everything to Thailand. Their famous motors may hence change design ? See => www.stuff.co.nz/4039266a10.html

Stan I hope you dont mind but I moved this to the windmill section, its big news and I thought it should have its own thread. Glenn.Edited by Gizmo 2007-04-27

Australia once had its own electronics industry, we made our own radios and TV sets until the late 1960's.

Feel sorry for the guys in the NZ F&P factory.

Will be interresting to see how this affects F&P motor availability, if at all. I dont expect the design would be changed.

Yes bad , seems lots of things are going "offshore" --I partly blame it on intelligence , look back when I was leaving school, you went to Telecom, became an apprentice, worked in a store or office ,,,or if you were real smart went to university.

Now days every kid wants to go to university or become an "IT" whizz kid---no one wants to work in factories, become telecom techs or trades guys(unless their dad's have a trade business )

I go past the exchange where I worked at 40 years ago ,,maybe 30 of us in there,,nowdays it's steel meshed up ,nobody works in there.

anyhow,,I'm so glad for my past skills, my 2 boys(adults) hardly know how to start a motor mower, even if they owned one !!!--they get someone to do that stuff . thank god for the RACQ, there be abandoned cars all over the place.
