Hello friends,,

Yesterday ,I installed the 1mm stator and it's white rotor, unchanged from the factory..

Well, surprisingly, it gets up to cut-in voltage,26-27 v fairly quickly--a bit quicker than the other combinations,,

But, the noise,, it has this humming noise that can be felt down through the tower and also heard from 60 feet up ,,only as it gets up to speed and slows down --not too annoying ,,but there,,whereas the other combinations don't have any noise.

Nice thing about this is it fairly well sits on 50-75 watts most of the time ,,but I've never seen it go over 200watts,and only then on rare occasions,.

any comments

Hey Bruce.

What configuration are you using, is it the old 1mm wire stator with the old magent hub ( the one with lots of individual magnets ). If it is, then they were renound for that whining noise, one of the reasons they went to the larger ceramic 4 magnet per tile hubs in the 80 and 60 series motors.

Thanks Glenn,,

Yes,, I put the old indivudual magnet rotor and unchanged stator up ,just to se how it performed ,,remember some time back Dennis latham said they did the experiment down there in Sth Aus. and they had good results..

Well, It's blowing up arpind 20-30 Kph here at present ,,but starange thing is I've never seen it above ,say, 180-200 watts ,with this unchanged combination..

But this stator/rotor will produce 30-60 watts ,even in a light breeze.

I guess the next thing is to re-configure the wiring and change the old stator for the new Neo rotor I made (will work in this wind,I'm sure).

Anyone reading this have good results with a particular re-wiring effort, pls ???

Thanks Bruce

I do remember Dennis saying with the 1mm stator windmill it never achieved a lot of power, like you noticed with your's, 200 watts tops. But the watt hours for the day was way up, again like you say your's is always making 30 - 60 watts. Its the watt hours that count, like the tortise and hare story, a windmill that makes a little power all day long is better than a windmill that makes a lot of power occasionally.
