Last week I threw together a little experiment vertical windmill, based on the Lenz but using closed pipe. It didn't work very well, it would run as a drag windmill, very slow, and if I spun it up by hand it would then run as a lift windmill. However it couldn't get into the lift zone without some help from me, and thats not what I wanted, so I abandoned the idea for now.

I wanted to play with the Miller turbine again, there is something about this design that has got me interested. I made a adapter from HDPE ( same stuff those kitchen chopping boards are made from, easy to work and cheap ) to fit a stepper motor.

The little miller runs well, makes about 3 volts. I've been watching this thing all weekend and I'm sure its a lift windmill, once started it keeps speeding up like a Darius windmill.
I've attached a little video of it running.

The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now.

Curses curses curses.......now you have piqued my interest.

Are there any real world figures about Millers. And do you know of any sites that show any practical building of these Millers?

I can feel another project sneaking up on me.
