hi i am running a 12volt solar system i live out back in tasmania and have no grid connection i have recently brought a 48 volt 1000 yueniao wind mill and 16 12 volt 100 hour batteries would it be better for me to dump the 48 volt wind mill and go to a 12volt wind mill to go with the 12 volt system i have allready got running or buy a new 48 volt inverter and run 2 sepperate units into the house or do they make a 12 volt yueniao generator that would fit on the yueniao tower . also if i go with the 48 volt mill i will have excess power am i better of installing a shunt regulator to get rid of the excess power thank any one out there for there helpEdited by divingdeep 2007-10-11

Diving in deep, is the way it should be.

If you already have a 12v system, you need to work out if this works well enough for what you want. You need to weigh up the cost to change to 48v and the cost to stay with 12v.

By the way you ask the questions & buying a 48v wind mill, with a 12v system, it sounds like you want someone to tell you what you have already worked out.

If you want serious power, use a 48v system. There is no reason why you couldn't use the 12v system as well. Just don't parrallel the ac outputs of 2 or more inverters. They all burn out, unless they are built for it. They would be completely seperate systems.

What regulator do you have on the solar panels ??
