Does anyone know where to get parts schematic diagrams for Southern Cross windmill? I am new to this and was windering if the main pinions in the gearbox are press fitted to the shaft. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Southern Cross Windmill use be at Toowoomba call Toowoomba foundry next door to Southern Cross several years ago when the America company call Tyco have taken over Southern Cross fews years later move from old Southern Cross birhplace to new home at Withcott aprox 20Km at the bottom of Toowoomba range and try look up there Webs site "www.tycoflowcontrol.com.au" and try contact them as might able to help your schematic diagrams for Southern Cross windmill

Hi Gizmo Thank as i didnt know about other obrockwindmill anyway i will try find out more about Southern Cross windmill in next couple of weeks as l was former empoyee of Southern Cross company several years ago and l do remmber seening many parts schematic diagrams papers for Southern Cross windmill and machining also many older timer also still living around Toowoomba work for Toowoomba fountry or Southern Cross often talk to me about their working times. last week l have spoken to John due retire this year told me lot of intesrting story like building stream engine for railway,war machines gunner,diesel&petrol engine,generator, Southern Cross Lathes Milling machines Drilling machines,surface grinder, Lawn mowers, water pumps, electric Motors,large press simlar to John Heine press which l have one at my Home now during early years more than 1500 employee who work for this loyal company and also did owing large manufacture house brick that close down several years ago after l went to see MP Mr Ian Macfarlane of Toowoomba (Refused) asking him to save the compamy for the stake number local employees who work more than 30 years have lost there jobs has never gain employment again and one of the manager of the brick had die due stess of closing down.

if you have the gearbox with the whitemetal bearings then there is a steel pin that holds it to the shaft. it is between the teeth of the gear. look carfully. if you remove the pin then the pinion should fall freely from the shaft. If you don't have the one with the whitemetal bearings then there should be a shoulder on the pinion with i think two grub screws in. remove the grub screws and it should fall off. hope i was of help.
