Thought I would try & use two plastic centre splines from a couple of F&P washing machines, Seems sturdy enough, time will tell. I will also paint for uv, Just an idea AJ ![]() |

Hi AJ I edited your post to layout the pictures better, it helps if you hit [Enter] after each image to make them go down the page instead of across. Let us know how that spline goes, I guess if it can handle a load of wet cloths then it may be strong enough for the turbine. G'day Ayjay, I think you'll do OK with two of the drum splines. I use the agitator spline for mine and it's given me no problems at all. As you are aware, UV may be an issue in time, so your painting accordingly is wise. I'd swap those plain nuts for Nylocs, though likely you're leaving that for final assembly as I do. Looks like a winner to me. Well done! Those blades remind me of the type used on model RC helicopters. Did you make them yourself? What's their history? was working fine... til the smoke got out. nice work AJ, i have used the splines as well with no real issue,be carefull of fles in gusty conditions, i have found the hub can flex and therefor the blades could strike the pole depending on the clearance, also one of my assemblies did slip and i ended up with free wheeling blades. i might sugest nylock nuts as well else drill and pin the nut, i used a combination of bothe. if it comes loose the blades could fly off. i also put another spline at the rear to give something to lock the asembly against when tightening the nut. well done and good luck martin free power for all McAlinden WA |
