Hi Guys I've been following this site for quite a while and thought it was time I posted! Anyway I have got my first F&P and set about getting the motor out, but noticed the fine cracks in the stator housing and was wondering what glue / epoxy / stuff you guys use to fill in the cracks to prevent further damage. I believe it's and 80 series by the badly wound coils. Thanks Bj Check out my projects here in: Bj's Shed |

Hi bJ ,, Don't worry ,they are there to let the water out .. Just joking,, no, they will do no harm ,most of mine have small cracks ,just make sure you apply varnish to the steel fingers and if you are real worried ,paint the plastic with some plastic paint.. and ,while you are at it , paint the outside rotor plastic ,this will help reduce any cracking as it's exposed to sunlight(do you get any of that where you live??) Have fun and consider the new Neo magnet retrofit that IMSMOOTH is developing..seems to be much more power.. Bruce Bushboy |

G'day Bj, Bruce is right. Don't worry about the cracks. I believe they are made over time by the stresses of fast stopping and change of direction during the agitation cycle when washing. This does not occur when used as a wind generator so they will never get any worse, nor do they cause any problems when left well alone. Occasionally you'll see a stator with severe cracks and still this never effects their road-worthy-ness. So proceed with confidence. ![]() was working fine... til the smoke got out. Ok, I've started a page on F&P stuff on my site for the development of a vertical windmill (can't decide what type just yet) but it will have to be some sort of "urban compatible" type of savanious / lenz to get those nasty turbulent winds :) Thanks for the inspiration - this forum is great!
