Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Forum Index : Electronics : this is sex on wheels (17 inch wheels, for my 848 Ducati.. but anyway)

0.42 milliOhm MOSFETs
this is high test drugs for us.
no heat
no loss
easy layout with tiny gate drive loops and tiny inductance.

Saw those before and they definitely have nice specs.  However, they do seem more difficult to solder/unsolder and heat sink effectively/easily at least for DIY projects.  It would be cool to see someone try it.

Whats the actual part #, do they have a published footprint?

They are SMD parts with bottom side cooling interface.  The lowest Rds_on parts are only available with lower Vdss.  A few examples:

I imagined, in a drug fueled feverish dream, small 50mm x 50mm modules that do 80V at 200 Amps and need trivial heat sinks. need 4 of them for an inverter.
tight as a fish's arse gate drive on 2 sided boards.
practically zero high side (floating) capacitance due to tiny size loops.
AND 0.42 milli Ohm Rds(on) per device.
it was a good dream.

Funny ... I have had a similar dream    Your dream system is doable now IF there is proper thermal management ... commercial systems use cold plates which works but rather expensive, large and not off the shelf for one off builds.  Newer SMD packaging with top side cooling (e.g. TOLT) is now available but such MOSFET's are still have Rds_on just above a milliohm.  So, I am hoping they will have sub-milliohm parts within the next couple years.  Also, I am dreaming for off the shelf high wattage cooling solutions like CPU coolers but in more suitable form factors.
