Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi
We have an old washing machine that the electronics are totally fried. However the motor still seems to be good as we can drive it using PWM and one of the winding.

What we want to do is possible to drive it fully, one direction only, so we can use the washing machine drum for dehusking i.e. some plants have their seeds (peas) in a pop.

Does anyone have a circuit that I can user, or is there a module online I can buy.

Many thanks

If this is a 7 phase motor i would consider reconnecting it from Y to a 7 phase polygon connection.

You then drive it with a 3 phase vfd

since you probably have 21 or 28 coils, you can draw the polygon out and select three connection points as close to 120 degrees apart as possible.

It would probably be easier to build your own 7 phase motor controller with an arduino and chat gpt, than it would be to do it this way:
