Plans to slash returns on pv and batteries, you will always pay, what fun. Will they also legislate to prevent anyone disconnecting from the Grid? - OR will you still be forced to pay. For dwelling not grid connected, will they legislate and force grid connections or forced payments in the near future, for whatever reason? As we have seen, anything is possible in these "history repeating" Moronic times that we find ourselves living in. Plan to introduce HIGH fixed Network Price. Mate I've been off the grid now for over 20 years and if they want to force a connection they can pay for it and I'll tell em I will gear up and be starting my own energy company where the price for the local town is zero |

I am guessing that non consumers of electricity like us will escape. I don't think it will happen but hopefully the companies that own powerlines that go through private properties will start to pay a fee for the inconvenience. We have a 33kv powerline that goes through our property. There are no benefits for us as we are off grid. There are plenty of downsides though. An unsightly scar of cleared land through our lovely forest. Lots of damage when the lines need work on them. When the tree trimmers come through to keep the powerline clear they cut out trees and just leave the mess for us to clean up. I did complain to the powerline ombudsman about the company making a mess, creating a fire hazard for us and dumping branches on the powerline edge limiting our access across our land. The answer i got was. TasNetworks said they would not create a fire hazard on your land. Photos showing the build up of trimmings apparently were not taken into account. Only what the company spokesperson said. So yes it would be nice to be paid to clean up their mess, and also for the inconvenience of their power clearing. |

No one can force you to have a connection. What the distribution companies have been trying to get from state governments is the right to bill a "daily availability charge" to every property that has a domestic supply (230V, 230/400V 3⌀ or 230/460V 3 wire single phase) nearby that could be connected without needing a transformer. So far most states say they have no plans to allow this, but have not entirely ruled it out either. The precedent the distribution companies cite are the charges water, sewerage and drainage bodies are able to charge if their pipes go past your property. However almost all of these are state or local council owned. Allowing private companies to do the same may cost political parties precious votes so they keep putting a decision off. |

At the present moment this is somewhat true, however, this is not the main point. By now, some of us, at least, should have seen how stupid people think, and the throw away "could they?" questions were for what the next phase "might be" after the "fixed universal power bill" of sorts gets implemented. As you are aware, the whole issue with power and various corporate overreach. is far, far, more complex then the simple questions I posed. There is no place on forums to articulate what some us really think about our current situation and out rights, now and for the future. NANO Inverter: Full download - Only Hex Ver 8.2Ks |

Yep, well we knew the writing was on the wall for some of this, Being charged for a service you don't get or need is practically fraudulent (see ACCC), well it would be if an individual or small business did this, but it has been done by local Government previously, Though some of those practices did get hammered when brought to attention and scrutiny. Remember what rights are supposed to be! Every living thing on the Earth has the right to sunlight (and other things), any dictator that wants to charge for that can go (Insert profanity here)The big solar and battery installations would also want a guaranteed base return as part of the (negotiated) connection agreement, should make people think, To what end? As is always the case, maximum return to shareholders. Charge the customer as much as possible while delivering as little as possible is the usual way to achieve that. Large donations to political campaign funds are one way to encourage changes to legislation. If they succeed they can charge non-customers too. But if the changes loose the politicians too many votes they are out the door, so that makes them hesitate. |
