Hello all, just got my Picomite (reference design) from Phil (thank you Phil for the great communication and very smooth transaction!) Finally I have an actual device in hand :) (with the Maximite Color on its way from NZ to France and Picocalc not event sent yet - on that one there is a wait with a couple hundred purchases ahead of me). I really like it - and I have two questions. 1. I was under the impression that the Picomite is compatible with wireless keyboards. I tried my Logitech K400, several no name made in china wireless keyboards (they are all keyboard / mouse combos) - and none of them works. The only one that does work is a keyboard only unit (no mouse or trackpad). Is that to be expected? The logitech works on the Maximite Color - and that is a simpler USB hardware (if I understand correctly), how come it does not work on the Picomite? 2. As the power button is quite of hard to access between the HDMI cable and the USB C cable, I prefer to switch on / off via a switch on my USB power supply. Is that safe to do or may it hurt the device in any way? Thank you for your help / guidance! Edited 2025-05-16 19:48 by Gadgetguy |

My Logitec K400+ works OK. Connects Keyboard and Mouse. Try OPTION RESET HDMIUSB Latest F4 Latest H7 FotS |

BTW @Gadetguy, this could be the base for a homebrew handheld and here and here With a wireless keyboard it could look like a switch Edited 2025-05-16 21:18 by dddns |

This is getting worse - I must be doing something very wrong here. Updated the firmware to the RC23 version (USBHDMI) - and now I do not have a picture on my monitor. But I see on the terminal "US USB Keyboard connected on channel 1" with my logitech keyboard - I did not have this before. But I am not sure how to see if it works or not, as my monitor does not work (and on the terminal I do not see if the USB keyboard works or not). Edited 2025-05-16 21:20 by Gadgetguy |

If you see it in a tty session then it should work in this from then on Mouse too with all features (at least positioning the cursor in the editor) Edited 2025-05-16 21:31 by dddns |

Thank you. I hope so. But now my HDMI out has stopped. No image on my monitor whatsoever... |

can you connect over serial? options? lower freq by different mode? Did you change something since it last worked? Edited 2025-05-16 21:38 by dddns |

No, did not change anything. But I looked now on the "options" preset by Phil. He had "HDMI PINS 1, 3, 5, 7" I did not have this. So I entered it - and now HDMI works. |

There is progress. HDMI is back and I see USB Keyboard connected - but when I type on the keyboard it does not show on the screen. Are there any options to configure the keyboard? (if I plug the keyboard receiver in my laptop it works) |

This is really weird. The Logitech keyboard gets detected and does not work. Then I connect my other keyboard (which did work before). It still works, but I see Keyboard connected and Mouse connected - but there is no mouse? |

doesn't look too good at first sight. I don't know. Try with a non hdmi version and clear the flash first IIRC I had exactly the same. I saw it connecting being happy and a second later I saw it not working Edited 2025-05-16 21:56 by dddns |

Thank you for trying to help. I started to enter some more options. After I enabled PSRam, now the keyboard and the mouse (logitech) is detected, but still does not work Phil had something like OPTION PLATFORM HDMIUSB2S -> I try that option and it does not work - I get "expected a string" I am lost |

Tried the answer from @disco4now ? |

Yes, did that many times. I also did OPTION RESET HDMIUSBi2S -> that gives me immediately HDMI back, but my keyboard is not detected again, and of course does not work. If I enter now OPTION PSRAM PIN GP47 -> my keyboard is now detected (but not the mouse and does not work) Edited 2025-05-16 22:26 by Gadgetguy |

OPTION RESET HDMIUSB or OPTION RESET HDMIUSBI2S |

Thank you. Yes, I think I need RESET HDMIUSBI2S - then I enable PSRAM PIN47 so keyboard is visible (on channel 1); but mouse is not visible and neither keyboard nor mouse work For others this seems to work - but I am not sure why |

After doing > option keyboard us, 0, 0, 600, 50 I see: Total of 6 Mbytes PSRAM available > US USB Keyboard Connected on channel 1 > USB Mouse Connected on channel 2 So both keyboard and mouse are detected, but neither works |

And one more update: it DOES work - but not really. If I press the keys 50 times - maybe it registers once. So I am mashing now the keys and something is visible on the screen, but it is totally useless as I see no way to control what is happening on the screen ( and again - my other keyboard, also wireless -works well!) Now I did a reset - and only the keyboard is visible on the logitech, the mouse part not (it is the same plug that does both) There is likely a timing issue somewhere I would speculate - but I really do not know Edited 2025-05-16 22:38 by Gadgetguy |
