MMEdit V5.3.6 Further refinements with AUTOSAVE N Stopped the duplicate control characters being sent in Linux version. Changed serial handshake on close. This vastly improves pico reliability when sending large volumes of data through the USB. VK7JH MMedit |

And here we go again! The latest version has been completely blocked by Microsoft and I cannot even get an option to override; the download is simply deleted before I can even find the download. What a pain! |

Same problem for me. Previous MMedit version downloaded a few days ago without problems. No idea how to solve the problem. W11 in use. Pluto |

Same problem here. Firefox was the only successful download but when I tried to unzip, the file went to zero bytes. |

OK so I temporarily switched-off protection and it downloaded and installed. |

I also tried the download, once before the update and once with the latest version, and in both cases there were no problems, with all security mechanisms activated. Only 7z instead of Windows ZIP. Sorry Stan, I don't understand the question. I think you are trying to load a program using the "Load" button. Did the program fail to load? If it failed, I need more information but if it did load successfully, just think it magic. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

A small update for the Linux users to test. MMCC now scans for available serial ports every 2 seconds and if there has been a change, pops up a short notice informing of the change. The pull-down list of ports now only includes ports that were found. Once the new version has been run, Users have to edit the MMCC.inf file to add any fixed serial ports they wish to include in the list of ports. Line 65: Linux fixed ports = change to Linux fixed ports = ttyS0 ttyS5 etc This is still not as user friendly as the Windows version but definitely an improvement. Extract the MMCC file from the attached ZIP and replace the file in the MMEdit folder. MMCC.zip Linux has a habit of changing the serial port designation whenever there has been reset of the pico and you are using the USB console. If there aren't any problems identified, I will include it in the next update. Jim Edited 2025-11-04 06:11 by TassyJim VK7JH MMedit |

Hi Jim, First, thanks for your work on MMEDIT. I can't seem to run that most recent test version MMCC (I re-tried an earlier one [which I had renamed in same folder] and it's OK). I'm running Ubuntu 22.04 older version(Version: V5.2.5 Build date: 2023/11/13 05:15:14) generates console messages but seems to still work. Regards Phil |

You will need to be running a recent version of MMEdit to use the test version. It requires the correct support files. If you do have V5.3.6 then Can you try this to confirm that you have all the qt files sudo apt-get install qtbase5-dev libqt5webkit5 If that doesn't help, I will try going back to the earlier tool chain. I have updated the main download with a new Linux MMCC which uses the same compiler as previously so it should work with the same environment as before. The changes are: Searching for serial ports as previously described and the <Enter> key in the num-pad now works in the terminal. No changes to the Windows versions. I am investigating an annoying bug where MMEdit occasionally locks up with high CPU usage and requires killing. This seems to happen when changing tabs. I can't reproduce the error so it will take some time to find the cause. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

Hi Jim, Have seen the lockup in 5.3.6. In my case it happened with a single tab open, MMCC open, Pico attached but not sending data, and left in the editor screen for an hour (I had a meeting, and when I came back it was frozen). Thanks for the report. It is going to be a long exercise before I am convinced that It is fixed. I assume that this was in Windows? Jim VK7JH MMedit |

Thanks Jim, Linux version V5.3.6 you built today works fine on my ubuntu. Ports are playing nicely. with a PicoMite, when changing speed it detects change, then I click Disconnect, then Connect and it works - no need to unplug or reset PicoMite Thanks again, Regards Phil |
