Is very close to screw mounts. I will try to find something larger if I can but 60mm will fit perfectly.

Still curious to see how Bryan hold his hub...

Bryan, you can make some photos when you will lower your mast for maintenance? Every solution deserve a post ... in my opinion . I saw that the hub is very important, no windmill without this. And you don't know how important is until you need it for a specific set of parts. Here is the moment when designers, engineers and skilled or inventive people come in. They have my respects.Edited by vasi 2008-01-03

Hiya Vasi,
Well after the second plywood blade failure, this time I had a 3 blade setup where 2 of the blades have never been found the old f&p mount is still on the tower which is still raised. I did start to make a new mount and now I've got my bridgeport mill working off my inverter I suppose I should get motivated and get it finished. Later today I'll take a pic of the new mount which is very similar to Glenn's genny on his website. The main problem I see using the f&p plastic hub is the bearings are too close together and with the shaft being stainless steel it is possible the shaft could bend under extreme conditions.

Cheers Bryan

I agree with that, but the shaft can be shortened and make a "hub" propeller like on windstuffnow.com. (I don't have the heart to short it! ).

Hi Vasi,
I could not survive in a cold place like that.

Vasi, I don't want to scare you, but here is a collection of photo's. The more you see, the more ideas come to mind with what you have available in your country.

Some can be seen here

and some more

Here is one more horible contraption. Of course, experiments don't have to be professional.

I would like to add that Kiwi John has shown a real good simple idea.
