Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hiya Guy's,
Well after some work I managed to repair the tower and get the genny backup and flying again. The damaged blade I just poured some thinned wood glue in the cracks and let it soak in, after 3 coats I reckon all the splits were filled so hopefully it will stay together. I changed the stator to a 100s in delta and I basically remade the tail and just put a stop on each end rather than the pipe cutout shown on the main site. I threw some pic's up in my irc gallery showing the tower repair, I machined down some 1/2" bolts 200mm long so they were a neat slide fit in the tube then drilled a hole in each section 60mm back and plug welded the hole before I welded the join. Well after this disaster I only lost about 1/2 a metre on tower height.

NOW HERE'S A TIP FOR EVERYONE when lowering a tower make sure the side guy wire aren't too tight or you'll endup doing what I did and it aint fun fixing.

Cheers Bryan

G'day Guy's,
Well it's been blowing a gale here all week and I wondered this morning as I'm off crook from work why the wind genny was making a horrible noise and my batteries weren't fully charged. Anyway I lowered the tower and found the blade mount had a little side slop so off I went to get my breaker bar and socket, then wondered why it wouldn't tighten? I lowered the blades so I could see in the hole only to find the nut had come undone and was missing I looked on the ground for 10 minutes for it then I did remember something hitting the roof of my shed last weekend and sure enough the nut WAS sitting on the roof. I feel very lucky the blades never came flying off but I do have the genny tilting 6 degrees up so that probably saved them. Also with the blade wobble I'm thinking it wouldn't get upto speed. Anyway all fixed and backup flying and bloody murphy is here again no wind. I'm going to setup my fluke 865 DMM and make a small movies of the scope output so you guys can see the data like waveform, hertz etc.

Cheers Bryan
