Hi DEX users
Since about early February, in Schematic, I have had trouble in one way or another with moving a selected object using the arrow keys in conjunction with the Shift/Ctrl keys. The mouse works fine.
Could some please (Bigmik) with a late version, go to Schematic, draw a line, add an object or something & see if you can move it using the Arrow and either the shift or Ctrl keys & see if it works for me please. With the latest few versions, nothing happens for me & I have to reload a Feb version.
Thanks

Hi Brian,
I have just seen this post. I will try it for you tomorrow, I am stuck in the living room for the evening.
However, I never do movements by shift/Ctrl keys, I usually just click and drag to a new position.

Hi Mick
Ok, thanks. Waiting your findings.
I do both. I find the keys are good for nudging things, particularly if they get miss aligned with the grid. Just annoying that everything was working OK earlier in the year & now it isn't. CTRL + C / P (copy & paste) playing up as well
Mr. Dex, (Iliya) couldn't find a problem so no go there.
Thanks again.

Hi Brian,
I contacted the developer and he says he has fixed the issue for you.
Download the latest and try it.
It is always best to use the MANTIS reporter to report issues as that gets his priority.

Mick
PS. I just tested it and it seems to work as you described but I didnt know that feature was there. I always just dragged with the mouse or select and adjust in the Properties panel.

Hi Mick
Downloaded the latest version.
Sort of works. Still not quite right. It does appear to be good if I don't have the popup Properties selected. (right click on object & select Properties). Locks up frequently with the properties selected. I'll check it out for a few days & get back to you.
Thanks

Hi Brian,
I HATE the pop up properties so I have them turned off, if I want properties I select an object and open the property panel.
It goes to show that there are many ways to do the same thing.
Send DEX a Mantis report after you have tested the changes

Hi Brian, All,
I tested the SHIFT-ARROW with popup properties and it worked fine for me.
How did you go with it?

Hi Mick
Thanks for testing. Much appreciated.
It is working much better but it does occasionally stop working. Along with the arrow /shift & ctrl keys not working, CTRL/ C, V, X, Y & Z freeze as well. (Copy, paste etc via the mouse are OK but a bit slow), so I'm thinking that the program stops recognising the CTRL & SHIFT keys as they are a common link between the two.
I also found that while locked up, if I toggle the Snap Points per Grid Icons e.g., go from 4 to 2 then back to 4, all comes good for awhile. Strange. Of course, killing the Pop up Properties panel & re-selecting the object, I can move it OK & Cut & Paste come good.
The normal Properties Panel, selected from the tool bars, as far as I can determine does not affect anything.......... OK, I just brought up the Main Properties Panel & the program is misbehaving quite regularly. Kill it & still plays up.
I may just run DEX without the Pop up Properties & select it when I need it. I don't mind this one popping up as I can move it out of the way. The other pop-ups centering around the mouse, I definitely hate.
BTW version Dex-2024.2.14 was the last one that didn't give me any problems that I was aware of. I've lost count of the number of times I have reinstalled it after trying out later versions (generally miss a few updates).
Thanks again.

Hi Mick, Is there still a DEX forum? Gerry |

Hi Gerry, All,
No, sadly, there is no users group forum hosted by DEX any more.

Hi All (Big Mick)
Getting back to using DEX, I noticed that the UNDO function in Schematic was not working. I updated to the latest version & still no luck. I set the the number of undos to 30 in the settings & that didn't make any difference.
The UNDO Icon in one of the tool bars goes from grey to blue when changes are made & will go back to grey when clicked to indicate it has done something, but no changes are done to the schematic.
Same applies using CTRL Z & from the right click Pop-Up.
Undo seems to work with other programs.
Any ideas

Hi Brian,
I haven't used DEX in well over 6 months due to not needing to..
But I downloaded the latest 25.10.7 and undo in schematic works fine for me both with the Arrows (and REDO works) and with CTRL-Z
Try a clean install or at least a reinstall, or send a report with the Mantis bug reporter.

Thanks Mick
I did a PC reboot. No difference. I don't want to do a re-insnstall as it is a pain to set it up again. I fired up a Mantis report & will see what happens.

Hi Brian
What did he do? A new version?
As I said mine worked fine.

Hi Mick,
I downloaded & installed V10.8 (from V7) which worked. I don't know what he did, but he must have found something to fix.
I see that he has now released 10.10 which I have yet to install.
He wanted a "pat on the back" so to speak, for working on a Sunday. I asked if he paid himself Sunday rates.
Are you on W11?

Hi Mick
It is strange that yours worked. Mine did the previous time I used it as well (I think).
Loaded V10. Seems OK so far. Only doing basic line drawings.
Hope you are enjoying DLS. Still arguing about it up here in QLD, particularly by the ones in SE Qld
