A friend dropped in and asked if I could have a look at his neighbours battery charger, it was working and it just stopped....yes, $ for every time I heard that. Ok this one is CTEK MXS 15, just look at the photo. Didn't bother plugging it in, just checked power plug with a meter and it was open circuit, so possible internal fuse blown. Looks nice inside and yes internal fuse is blown, dam hard to get to and still don't know its value yet, the question is why did it blow the fuse? Looking closer, there is some brown on the PCB and those resistors have been a bit warm and the conformal coating has blistered. On the other side of the PCB, yes something has taken s dump. I have highlighted with green the placement of 3 resistors seen on the top, the other track (red arrow) is not really a track from what I can tell, its a burn across the PCB shorting between the 2 resistors, haven't seen a schematic to totally confirm this but its a deep groove and likely what eventually blew the fuse, the diode and mosfet check ok there may be other damaged components.
